The International Seminar «Aquatic Resource Management with an Ecosystem Approach: Advances, Gaps and Collaboration», organized by the Chilean Society of Marine Sciences (SCHCM), and the Chilean Fisheries Development Institute (IFOP), was an event with a broad audience and reach, which was also transmitted through the Chilean Society of Marine Sciences’ Facebook Live platform.
This important meeting of the aquaculture and fishing industry brought together prominent panelists from academia, and national and world science, who spoke about how progress is being made in the management of aquatic resources, with an ecosystem approach.
The activity began with a welcome greeting from the Director of the Fisheries Development Institute, Luis Parot Donoso, who thanked for the participation in the seminar and explained: «this is a challenge that reflects the concern for the environment, for the sustainability of the planet, of the ecosystems of life that exist in it. It represents a tremendous challenge for fisheries managers to find tools that reflect this ecosystem reality, but that can be applied in practical terms to the exploitation of fisheries in each of our countries. The challenge is to do so now, not only by looking after the interests of human beings, economic activity, social activity, entrepreneurship, but also by looking after the ecosystem in which this resource has to exist.
To communicate these interesting talks and knowledge transfer at an international level, this seminar was supported by the services of our company MundoChile Ltd. which, through its simultaneous interpreters in a remote format, was a great support in technical and professional terms, thus contributing to the success of this encounter.
