Webinar «Chile-U.S. Free Trade Agreement: The result of a relationship that goes beyond economy»

On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Chile and the United States, AmCham Chile has published a book that compiles all the details that defined one of the most challenging and beneficial negotiations in the country’s commercial diplomacy.

Under the title «Chile-U.S. Free Trade Agreement: The result of a relationship that goes beyond economy,» the publication reconstructs the history of the negotiations and the subscription of the agreement through the testimony of its main players. It also summarizes the major results and benefits obtained at the economic, political and commercial level by both countries.

«This book is the story of an improbable alliance, but fundamentally that of extraordinary people and essential institutions that twisted the hand of all forecasts.  And if there is one lesson to be learned from these 15 years, that is the importance of dialogue and collaboration to strengthen our common ground and set a clear course,» said Sandra Guazzotti, president of AmCham Chile.

The virtual event included lectures by former President Ricardo Lagos Escobar, and the Chilean Foreign Affairs Minister Andrés Allamand, who reviewed this historic milestone and the new challenges that both countries face ahead in the field of bilateral relations.

MundoChile held this important and successful event through its virtual meeting digital platform. This modern technology allows its simultaneous interpreters in the English – Spanish language combination to translate a live event remotely, with high sound and video quality.
