The Punta Sierra Wind Park, one of the largest wind parks ever built in Chile’s Coquimbo Region, was inaugurated 24 August 2018.
The launch of this imposing project was attended by entrepreneurs, Energy Minister Susana Jiménez and Mining Minister José Ramón Valente.
With total investment of US$ 140 million financed using Chinese capital and installed capacity amounting to 82 megawatts, the 32 wind turbines at Punta Sierra (located in the district of Ovalle) were incorporated into Chile’s supply of clean and renewable energy generation.
This was the first investment made by the companies Pacific Hydro and State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) in Chile.
