“Your work changes lives. Major innovation starts at the classroom and you drive it”. With these words, addressed to teachers, Doug Lemov started his lecture. Mr. Lemov is a writer and teacher expert in teaching vulnerable students in the United States and speaker at the second seminar “There are no Excuses”, “New Tools to teach as a Master”, organized by Fundación Belén Educa, Aptus Chile, Fundación Astoreca, Enseña Chile, SIP, and Sociedad San Vicente de Paul, and sponsored by the Unites States Embassy in Chile.
At his entry to the Salón Fresno at Centro de Extensión de la Universidad Católica, the author of the book “Teach as a Champion”, was received with expectation by the more than 1,200 attendants, the majority of them school headmasters and teachers who arrived to Santiago from Alto Hospicio in the north to Puerto Aysén in the south. Interest was so high, that only first attendants who were provided simultaneous translation equipment fitted into the room, while the rest had to watch Lemov through a television closed circuit enabled at the facilities lobby.
MundoChile was honored to provide simultaneous interpretation services during the entire event and during the previous workshops conducted by this great educational motivator. The translators’ team was recognized by the event organization due to their excellent performance, facilitating Mr. Lemov all communications in Chile.
