9th International Table Grape Symposium

The 9th version of the International Table Grape Symposium attracted around 600 domestic and international specialists from 17 countries who shared and discussed the technical, scientific and economic progress made in the sector. This activity was organized by the Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) together with the Commission for Investigation into the Development of Table Grapes (UVANOVA) and the Faculty of Agriculture of the Catholic University of Chile (PUC).

Chile, as an important exporter of table grapes, shipping 80 million cases worldwide every season, was chosen as the venue in order to review what progress had been made up to now and the challenges this industry will be facing in the coming years.

The Minister for Agriculture, Antonio Walker attended the inauguration ceremony together with the National Director of INIA, Pedro Bustos, the Executive Chairman of UVANOVA, Carolina Cruz, the Director of the Department of Fruit Farming and Oenology of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Forestry Engineering of the Catholic University of Chile, José Antonio Alcalde, the Chairman of ASOEX, Ronald Brown and the Chairman of Fedefruta, Jorge Valenzuela, besides leading domestic and international researchers.

The event, which attracted a great number of attendees, also included a technical tour and a visit of the Aconcagua Valley and the Metropolitan Region.
