X Citizen Security Week in Chile

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Chile’s Ministry of the Interior and Public Security, held the X Citizen Security Week in Chile between November 26 and 30, 2018, the largest event in Latin America and the Caribbean dedicated to security issues and justice.

The main theme for this event was based on digital innovation and its application in the value chain in citizen security and justice.

The event was comprised of two main activities, the first being the Regional Policy Dialogue, where Security and Interior Ministers from across the region discussed the challenges and advances in citizen security and justice policies. This activity, held on November 26-27, was launched by Chilean President Sebastián Piñera.

Chile’s Interior Minister, Andrés Chadwick, was the host of the Regional Dialogue, with the participation of ministers and high authorities of the Interior and Security Ministries of Argentina, the Bahamas, Belize, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Suriname and Uruguay.

The second main activity was the Citizen Safety Clinic, kicked off on November 28, and was open to the public. The meeting consisted of more than 40 regional and international panelists, who presented promising experiences from more than 15 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, North America and Europe on how to use technology against crime and generate technological innovations at national and local levels.

MundoChile had the important mission of providing simultaneous and consecutive interpretation services in English, Spanish and Italian for both activities, as well as during the private meetings that took place in the framework of this international meeting.
