7-8 September 2017 – Viña del Mar
The Third Ministerial Meeting of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas was held 7-8 September 2017. The meeting was attended by representatives from 25 countries and by 18 Ministers of State, as well as by deputy ministers and government authorities.
This was the first time that the Energy Summit was held in Chile, which specifically took on the chairmanship of the organization to prepare for the meeting. Former meetings were held in Mexico in 2015 and in the United States in 2010.
The ECPA Steering Committee is comprised of Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, United States, Jamaica, Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago. Canada, Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay and Ecuador also participated.
Discussion at the convention focused on “new clean energies” and “continental integration”. The main topic was climate change, which affects all countries.
The Ministerial Meeting was held at the Sheraton Miramar Hotel in the city of Viña del Mar and was inaugurated by President Michelle Bachelet.
