The first “Public Safety, Emergencies and Catastrophes” 911 Forum was held in Chile and will be followed by conventions in Peru, Colombia and Mexico. The forum brings together leading specialists from the public and private sectors from the Americas and the rest of the world.
Michel de L’Herbe, an expert in emergency management and community preparation, chaired the Forum. Over twenty national and international speakers addressed issues such as the State’s role in public safety and emergency management, 911 models and scale, challenges for integration in Latin America, communicating to protect and save lives, platforms and media, and information and communication technologies for public safety and emergencies, among others.
This important forum, which also featured a fair with exhibitors from the sector, was an important opportunity for opening dialogue, exchanging experience, good practices and models enabling progress toward the integration of local, regional, national and global systems in order to jointly address the main challenges stemming from emergencies of any scale.
