An important milestone corresponding to the X Juegos Suramericanos Santiago 2014 (10th South American Games) was held on March 7 at Sheraton Hotel in Santiago. Officials from Olympic Committees from each country participating in the competitions met for the 27th ODESUR Ordinary General Assembly, with the participation of the Minister for the Sports, Gabriel Ruiz Tagle, Chile Olympic Committee (COCh) Chairman, Neven Ilic, and Santiago 2014 Executive Director, Marcela González, among other authorities. At the beginning of the meeting, ODESUR officials expressed their recognition to the three Chilean authorities, who were also awarded and receive a warm applause for their work in the organization of these X Juegos Suramericanos. “Santiago 2014 promises to be a great exhibition, and we hope its opening will reach the entire country, to spread these games that will be very important for sports. We have completed an infrastructure program that results in a very deep change in our future sports facilities”, stated the Minister for Sports, Gabriel Ruiz Tagle. On the other hand, Santiago 2014 Executive Director, Marcela González, affirmed that “having carried out all this work and being now a few hours away from the games opening is very exciting”.
