Chile’s International Renewable Energy Congress took place on the 4th and 5th of September 2012 at the Santiago Intercontinental Hotel. The Chilean International Renewable Energy Congress gathered together more than 300 of the most senior experts in wind power, solar power, geothermal power and renewable energy finance, this event was one of the most important renewable energy related meetings carried out in Chile in the last year. Thanks to the driest desert on the planet, radiation levels are among the highest worldwide, Chile boasts excellent conditions for wind power and, in addition, geothermal resource is fantastic due to the country’s position on the ring of fire with an estimated 16,000 MW of production potential over the next 50-years. With a GDP growth rate of 5.1% annually until 2015, Chile’s energy needs will increase substantially, possibly doubling in the next 10 years. The energy demands of the mining industry alone are expected to increase by 5% annually (The mining industry already consumes more than 80% of the energy in the North). These factors have fostered wide public support for Non-Conventional Renewable Energy (NCRE) and the government has recognised that now is the time to take advantage of Chile’s impressive natural resources, by planning to install 8Gw of Non-Conventional Renewable Energy sources before 2020. MundoChile is proud to have been the official interpretation company for all the conferences and meetings organized during this important congress, always providing the highest proffessional standards in language services.
