The Governor of the State of Iowa, Terry E. Branstad, headed a business mission to Chile on July 26 and 27, in order to widen trade and investment agreements between the State of Iowa and Chile. In addition to the Governor, the mission was formed by the State Economic Development Director, Debi Durham, and representatives from different Iowa companies. The mission also visited Brazil. “Chile is an important partner for the State of Iowa,” stated Governor Branstad, and added that “trade missions like this benefit Iowa as well as Chile in the development of mutual benefit trade relations, and prove that Iowa is an attractive and dynamic place to do business. We are interested in meeting our counterparts in Chile and study the areas in which we may collaborate”. The State of Iowa is located in the United States mid-west, and it outstands because of its agriculture and manufacturing background. Chile is in the nineteenth place as Iowa exports destination, which exceeded US$88 million in 2011. Our team interpreter, Patricio González, was trusted by MundoChile to directly support the Iowa Governor with his consecutive and simultaneous interpreting services during his meetings in Chile. Also, MundoChile provided simultaneous interpreting services for the seminar “Promoting Iowa Global Partners” held during this visit.
