The Second Southern Cone Infrastructure Summit, organized by Business News Americas, was held on October 12 and 13 at the Santiago Sheraton Hotel and was focused on new energy infrastructure, transport, water resources, and social projects in the Southern Cone. The Southern Cone Infrastructure Summit is the only executive summit focused exclusively on the large challenges and opportunities of energy infrastructure, social, transport, and water projects in the Southern Cone. It was also reported that investment in infrastructure in Latin America could reach US$450 billion by 2015. The conference gathered personalities from the public and private sector, and greatly contributed to promoting and improving new relations and associations. Infrastructure public and private sector leaders from more than 20 countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay participated in the conference.
